Plaid Cymru Ceredigion’s campaign against parcel companies who charge extra to deliver to postcodes they regard as ‘remote’ has scored a noted success!
DHL has told me that all Welsh postcodes, including the SY23, 24 and 25 codes in the Aberystwyth and Tregaron areas, will no longer be subject to the charge.
Along with Mike Parker, Plaid Cymru’s Westminster candidate for Ceredigion, I launched a petition against the £16 charges in June, and lobbied DHL to change its policy.
I’m glad that DHL have seen sense and reviewed their charges after we launched the campaign. The areas that were subject to a charge never made any sense, in my view. There’s no justification for describing Aberystwyth as particularly remote when many other areas were not subject to the surcharge.
From the start of next year, it’ll cost DHL customers exactly the same to deliver parcels to and from Ceredigion as it will from anywhere else. Ceredigion has stood up to a company who wanted to give us a worse service than other areas, and we’ve won!
Many thanks to everyone who signed the petition to help put pressure on DHL.
